Chernobyl Service at Church of St Cyril and Commemoration, London, Sunday 28th April 2024 13:00-17:00
The Society’s commemoration of the 38th anniversary of Chernobyl will be in two parts:
13:30 – Church Service conducted by Fr Sergey Stasievich between 13.30-14:00 in the Church of St Cyril of Turau, Marian House, Holden Avenue, N12 8HY.
Please aim to arrive at the Church by 13.15 if you wish to attend all of this short service.
Approx. 14:00-15.30 in Marian House – ABS commemoration of Chernobyl with statements and readings by those present at the meeting. The Chair, Alan Flowers, will commence with a very brief overview of the current main impacts of Chernobyl on Belarus, and then those at the meeting will be invited to make contributions.
Whilst the meeting will be in an informal, albeit solemn, format, it would help with planning a schedule if those who wish to make a statement relating to their own personal experience of Chernobyl, read a text or recite a poem could advise Alan Flowers, as soon as possible and prior to the end of Saturday 27th April.
It is intended to enable participation in this on ZOOM, – please reply to Alan Flowers by e-mail if you intend to be a participant on ZOOM,and if you intend to be a contributing participant.
Approx. 15.30 -17:00 in Marian House,- informal networking with refreshments and snacks.
